A few years ago, Mary read Shelby Van Pelt’s 2022 novel, Remarkably Bright Creatures. She liked it so much we listened to the audiobook version on a vacation to the north coast. Remarkably, iIt may be the only book ever published with a Giant Pacific octopus as the central character!

I was incredulous when I heard that in 2024, Netflix had started a movie version of the novel. The movie was released on May 8, and we watched it tonight. It’s one of the best movies I can remember, and I recommend this as highly as I’ve recommended any movie.

I subscribe to Netflix, and I’m not sure how one who is not a subscriber would watch it, but it’s certainly worth the effort to try. It’s remarkable!
